About Us

The Ginninderra Tigers are a proud cricket club with a rich history, playing in the ACT Premier Cricket grade competition. We have sides representing the club in all 5 grades in the nation’s capital city, and strive to be a successful and enjoyable club on and off the field. We also have a junior club which caters to boys and girls of all ages.

We welcome players of all abilities and backgrounds, and strive to cater to the needs of all.

We train and play at the Kippax Ovals in Holt, with the recently upgraded Kippax first grade ground establishing itself as the premier grade cricket facility in Canberra.

In recent years the Ginninderra Cricket Club have been blessed to have some highly rated international and first class cricketers play for the club. The highest profile player to have played for the GCC is Ross Taylor, who played a few games for the Tigers before going on to become a world class star for the New Zealand international team. He has since starred in many Test matches and at several World Cup events for his country, establishing himself as one of the premier batsmen on the world stage.

Ginninderra have also been blessed with Papua New Guinea internationals Jack Vare and Assad Vala spending some time with the club and quickly becoming favourites of those within the club. PNG international captain Vare has particularly established himself as a popular “Tiger for life” after several seasons playing for the club, with the hope of more to come in the future.

Jeremy Bray, James Shannon, and Shane Getkate have also all tasted international circket having represented Ireland at different levels both before and after spending time playing for Ginninderra.

Added to these international players, Graeme Cunningham (Tasmania), David Dawson (Tasmania and NSW), Mick Delaney (South Australia), and Sam Gaskin (Australia U17’s) have all spent time with Australian first-class state sides or with representative squads.

We’ve also been blessed to have English county cricket stars, Steve O’Shaughnessy (Lancashire and Worcestershire), Scott Elstone (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire), and Paul Horton (Lancashire) spend time at our proud club.

On top of this, Ginninderra are proud to have had several players in recent years selected to represent the ACT in the Territory’s Comets side. These players include Graeme Cunningham, David Dawson, Sam Gaskin, Josh Kentwell, Justin Williams, Mick Delaney and Cameron Suidgeest. We’re incredibly proud of Cameron’s efforts in recent seasons, culminating in him being named as the Comet’s representative bowler of the year for season 2015/16.

The club are excited that Mick Delaney has signed on as the head coach for season 2016/17, bringing his knowledge and experience gained from his time spent with the South Australian first class squad. In recent years Mick has had success coaching a rival club to a premiership title, and it is seen as a big step in the direction towards success to have him back as a Tiger.
